You follow him around the edge of the truck. Natasha is nowhere to be seen; they must have loaded her up already, into this truck or one of the others in the small convoy that they’re assembling. You have a second or two to glance around, and then the first Hydra lackey spots you and raises the alarm with a shout.

It’s not like you weren’t expecting to fight, and so the two of you hold your own pretty well (Tony levels two and three enemies at a time with his repulsors; you take up a perch on the cab of the convoy truck and shoot down anyone who gets too close). You think you might be on the verge of victory, but then the radio feed crackles in your ear and it’s the other team (Sitwell, and his voice is calm overlaying panic), calling you because they need assistance.
